Alan Wenkus

Alan Wenkus is an American screenwriter and a former VP of Programming for Premiere Radio Networks.

Radio career

Wenkus got his start in radio fresh out of college. While performing stand up comedy, he was hired to work on the HOT 97 Morning Show in New York City. He wrote for the show and performed a variety of on-air characters while also helping to develop nationally syndicated comedy services that included "Radio Hotline" and the "Stevens and Grdnic Daily Comedy Exclusive." He launched the comedy and prep radio services at Premiere Radio Networks in the 1990s and worked with hundreds of morning radio shows across the country helping them to stay topical and entertaining.

Screenwriting Credits

Alan Wenkus was 22 when he co-wrote the screenplay Private Resort for 21-year-old Johnny Depp. The comedy Private Resort also starred actor Rob Morrow in his first film. Private Resort often plays on cable and midnight shows as a campy cult classic. Wenkus, Depp and Morrow have all gone on to successful careers.

In addition to Private Resort, Wenkus has written several other screenplays including a remake of the 1970s cult classic Dolemite and recently researched and co-wrote the Eazy E/NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton which is currently being produced by New Line Cinema.
